According to TUIK, narrowly defined unemployment rate rose to 9 percent in November. In October, this rate was 8.5 percent. The broad-defined unemployment rate also rose from 21.3 percent to 22.7 percent.

In November 2023, the number of employed people decreased by 236 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 31 million 611 thousand people, while the employment rate decreased by 0.4 points to 48.2 percent. This rate was realized as 65.4 percent for men and 31.3 percent for women.

In November 2023, labor force decreased by 122 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 34 million 726 thousand people, while labor force participation rate decreased by 0.2 points to 52.9 percent. The labor force participation rate was 70.7 percent for men and 35.5 percent for women.

The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 increased by 0.3 points compared to the previous month and became 16.5 percent.

Unemployment rate in this age group was estimated as 14.2 percent for males and 20.7 percent for females.

In November 2023, the idle labor force rate, also known as broadly defined unemployment, which consists of time-dependent underemployment, potential labor force and unemployed, increased by 1.3 points compared to the previous month and became 22.7 percent.

While the integrated rate of time-dependent underemployment and unemployed was 14.9 percent, the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated as 17.3 percent.
