Murat Uçar, an instructor at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, creates paintings, sculptures, and reliefs on various objects such as watches, jewelry, prayer beads, and pens using the micro art technique.

Known for designing special items for political leaders, famous athletes, and businessmen, Uçar spoke about the watch he designed for the spiritual leader of Catholics, Pope Francis, saying:

“When it comes to diplomatic gifts, they contact me directly, especially from abroad, particularly from America. I was contacted from Italy to create a special gift for the Pope. I made a completely unique design with my own interpretation of Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ painting within a approximately 3-centimeter dial.

The production was done in Turkey

It is entirely domestically produced and designed, down to its box. I made the portrait of Jesus, located in the exact center of the dial, 11 times. It was a process of about 1-1.5 months, where I worked 8 hours a day. The total production of the watch took approximately 3.5 months. It is one of the most precious works I have ever made, the ‘Last Supper’ painting I created for the Pope. Because one of the figures has a face that is approximately 1.5 millimeters. Since I painted it directly with a brush without any sketch work, it was a very special piece that I can call a masterpiece of craftsmanship. After 23 years of teaching and an artistic career, I can say that this work is the highest peak I have reached.”
