Borsa Istanbul broke a record by surpassing 6000 points

Borsa Istanbul index made history by closing above 6000 points for the first time in its history. The BIST 100 index reached an intraday peak of 6018 points and set a closing record of 6015 points.

Following the unexpected interest rate hike by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) that did not meet market expectations, the upward trend continues in Borsa Istanbul. The BIST 100 index started the new week at a record high and continued its ascent throughout the day, surpassing the psychological level of 6000 points. The index reached an intraday peak of 6018 points and set a closing record of 6015 points.

From a technical standpoint, the 5900 and 6000 levels serve as resistance, while 5750 and 5600 points act as support for the BIST 100 index.

At the opening, the banking index recorded a 1.13% increase, and the holding index saw a 1.61% rise, while at the close, they experienced gains of 2.04% and 3.76%, respectively.

All sector indices rose, with mining and transportation being the top gainers, with increases of 8%.

Carrying the upward trend into the fourth consecutive trading day on Tuesday, the BIST 100 index closed at 5759 points, marking a 0.46% gain and refreshing its closing record.
