Erdoğan: “We are not closed to the point of meeting with Bashar al-Assad.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during a press conference held before his visit to the Gulf countries, stated, “We are not closed to the point of meeting with Bashar al-Assad. We will meet.”

Erdoğan stated, “There is no situation where we close the door with Syria, the door is open. Regarding the quadrilateral summits, we support the idea of holding these summits, but we are not closed to the point of meeting with Bashar al-Assad either. We will meet. The whole issue is their approach towards us. Unfortunately, Assad wants Turkey to withdraw from Northern Syria. This cannot happen because we are fighting against terrorism there.”
