President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements upon his return from his visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Israeli media, there have been evaluations regarding Netanyahu’s visit, and discussions about the possibility of supplying Israeli natural gas to Europe through Turkey in the Mediterranean region. In response to these comments, Erdoğan said, “The most viable project here is the transportation of natural gas to Europe through Turkey. Shipping gas from the Mediterranean to Europe is costly. However, if it goes through Turkey, we will not only benefit economically but also have the opportunity to transport it to Europe at a certain rate.”
“In the tenure of our Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Berat, such a step had been taken. However, that step faced interruptions. Now, with the move we are about to take, we are establishing contact with Netanyahu for the first time. My wish is that this development marks the beginning of a much warmer period in Turkey-Israel relations.”
