Islamic Development Bank finances Turkey with 6.3 billion dollars

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group will provide 6.3 billion dollars of financing to projects in Turkey within the scope of the Country Strategy for the 2024-2026 period, and said, “Thanks to the economic program we have put into practice, the flow of foreign resources to Turkey continues strongly.”

Informing that he attended the two-day “Annual Meetings” in Riyadh on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the IDB, Şimşek said that within the scope of the meetings, the Country Strategy regulating the activities of the IDB Group in Turkey for the period 2024-2026 was adopted.

Şimşek stated that they signed the framework program within the scope of the strategy with IDB President Muhammed Sulaiman Al-Jasser and said, “With the strategy, the IDB envisages to provide financing of 6.3 billion dollars to projects in our country. Thanks to the economic program we have put into practice, the flow of foreign resources to Turkey continues strongly.”

Emphasizing that this strategy is in line with the development priorities set out in Turkey’s 12th Development Plan and the Medium Term Program, Şimşek continued as follows:

“The financing to be provided under the strategy will be used to support activities in many sectors such as education, health, transportation, finance, agriculture, industry, energy and infrastructure. The strategy covers all organizations in the IDB Group, the IDB, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Islamic International Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) and the Inter-Islamic Export and Investment Insurance Corporation (ICIEC). Of the $6.3 billion, $2 billion is expected to come from the IDB, $900 million from ITFC, $300 million from ICD and $3.1 billion from ICIEC.”
