Having played a pioneering role in the transformation of electric and autonomous public transportation in Europe, Karsan is now starting to serve in the Japanese market after North America.
Karsan introduced the e-JEST, the first right-hand drive vehicle in the brand’s history, at a ceremony held at the Turkish Embassy in Japan, and started its activities in this market with its distributor Altech.
Karsan CEO Okan Baş said that they are very proud and happy to be a Turkish brand in a country whose name is synonymous with the concept of automobile, and added: “We are now adding the Japanese market to our success in Europe and our rapidly expanding vehicle park in the North American market. We are transforming public transportation in the world with our vision of being ‘One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility’.”
Stating that they started this transformation with the 6-meter electric minibus e-JEST at the end of 2018, Okan Baş said, “Our goal is to close this year by reaching 1000 electric vehicles in 22 countries. Our e-JEST model, which recently became the first electric minibus in Canada and North America, continues to be the most preferred model in its class in Europe for the last three years in a row. With this launch, Karsan became the first European electric brand to enter Japan, and we are now serving in a very wide geography from Canada to Japan. We are targeting sales of 100 units in the Japanese market next year.”
