The Competition Authority completed the investigation into DSM Grup Danışmanlık İletişim ve Satış Ticaret AŞ (Trendyol).
The Competition Authority announced that the investigation into DSM Grup Danışmanlık İletişim ve Satış Ticaret AŞ (Trendyol) has been completed. In this context, Trendyol was fined 61.3 million TL in administrative fines.
According to the statement from the Competition Authority:
“The investigation, conducted by the Competition Board based on the decision dated 23.09.2021 and numbered 21-44/650-M, aimed to determine whether DSM Grup Danışmanlık İletişim ve Satış Ticaret AŞ (Trendyol) violated Article 6 of Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition in the online marketplace.
Following the deliberations on 26.07.2023, the Competition Board concluded that Trendyol intervened in the algorithm and unfairly gained advantages for its retail activities by using data from third-party sellers operating in the marketplace, and these actions had a restrictive effect on the activities of its competitors. Therefore, it was assessed that the mentioned undertaking violated Article 6 of Law No. 4054, and an administrative fine was imposed on the said company.”
