The duty to be paid by those who bring mobile phones from abroad has been increased by a presidential decision

According to the Official Gazette published last night with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, an increase has been introduced in several duties, including the duty to be paid for mobile phones brought for personal use from abroad.

With the Presidential decision published in the Official Gazette, the fixed duty amount specified in the tariff attached to the Law on Fees No. 492 has been increased by 50 percent. The usage permit duty for mobile phones brought by passengers, on the other hand, has been set at 20,000 TL.

The Presidential Decree regarding the 50 percent increase in the fixed duty amount specified in the tariff attached to the Law on Fees No. 492 has been published in the Official Gazette.

As per the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, there has been a 50 percent increase in the fixed duties included in the tariff attached to the Law on Fees No. 492, which covers fees such as Judiciary, Notary, Tax Judiciary, Land Registry and Cadastre, Consulate, Passport, Residence Permit, Work Permit, Work Permit Exemption, Visa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Authentication, Vessel and Port, Concession, License, Diploma, and Traffic fees.

The ‘Driver’s License fees’ included in the traffic fees were exempted from the increase.

The “Usage Permit Duty for mobile phones brought by passengers” has been increased from 6,091 liras to 20,000 liras.

The Banking and Insurance Transactions Tax (BMSV) for consumer loans has been increased from 10 percent to 15 percent.

Furthermore, there has been an increase of 14 percent in horse racing taxes, 10 percent in taxes on mutual bets based on sports competitions, and 20 percent in taxes on other games of chance.
