The Ministry of Trade verbally informed the Exporter Unions that bulk and barrel olive oil exports will be banned from August 1st to October 31st, 2023. It was stated that an official written notification regarding the decision will be sent later.

Export declarations for bulk and barrel oil from exporters are not being accepted.

According to claims, President Erdoğan reacted when he saw the price of olive oil at Tarım Kredi stores and allegedly gave instructions to halt exports to encourage domestic consumption.

At Tarım Kredi, the price of 1 liter of natural extra virgin olive oil ranges from 199 TL to 279 TL.
