In his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who arrived in Turkey yesterday evening, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Turkey was waiting for the finalization of the F-16 purchase process from the US and that the final decision on Sweden’s NATO membership process belonged to the Turkish Parliament.
Fidan, Blinken meeting lasted for about 2 hours. The details of the meeting were learned from diplomatic sources.
During the talks, relations between the two countries were discussed comprehensively. Minister Fidan informed his interlocutor that he was waiting for the finalization of the F-16 purchase process. He stated that the final decision on Sweden’s NATO membership process belongs to the Parliament.
Start negotiations for a two-state solution
The two Ministers also evaluated the ongoing human tragedy in Gaza. Pointing out that Israel’s increasing aggression is a threat to the entire region, Minister Fidan emphasized that an immediate ceasefire should be declared and uninterrupted humanitarian aid should be delivered to Gaza, and called for the immediate start of negotiations for a two-state solution.
Stating that he did not wish to see tensions in the Black Sea, Minister Fidan also touched upon the efforts of Russia and Ukraine to ensure the safe transportation of food products produced in Russia and Ukraine to the world markets. The talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia and regional issues such as Syria and Iraq were also discussed during the meeting.
