President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the 30th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and the Export Champions Award Ceremony.

We have introduced Turkey to its greatest achievements in exports throughout history

President Erdoğan expressed that they value any proposals and constructive criticism from exporters that will give momentum to the country’s foreign trade. He stated that they have introduced Turkey to its greatest export successes by working hand in hand and heart to heart.

Referring to the time when they took office 21 years ago, when Turkey was under the heavy shock of the 2001 crisis, President Erdoğan said, “Our financial sector was in a serious crisis due to the collapse of banks. No segment of our society, from artisans to workers, industrialists to civil servants, retirees, and housewives, could see a way forward. We had a country that barely managed to stand on its feet with its exports, infrastructure, superstructure, and employment. By working in solidarity with our business community, we completely reversed this picture. We have become one of the world’s most important production hubs. We had an economy that could only achieve $36 billion in annual exports, and today we have transformed it into a strong economy that accomplishes this amount in just 1.5 months.”

President Erdoğan emphasized that the year 2022 was recorded as a year of records in terms of exports, stating, “Our goods exports amounted to $254.2 billion, an increase of 12.9%. Our country’s share in global trade rose to 1.02%. Our service exports exceeded $90 billion, an increase of 47.3%. Our defense exports reached approximately $4.3 billion, an increase of nearly 37%. The number of exporting companies also increased by 10% compared to the previous year, reaching 114,561.”
