The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the industrial production statistics for the month of April.
Industrial production declined by 0.9% on a monthly basis in April. In March, industrial production had shown a 5.8% increase, rebounding from the monthly decline caused by the earthquake disaster in February. However, April witnessed a negative trend once again in the industrial sector. Industrial production decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous month in April.
On an annual basis, there was a 1.2% decline in industrial production.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected a monthly increase of 0.6% in industrial production. On an annual basis, an increase of 0.8% was anticipated.
The previously reported monthly increase of 5.5% for March was revised to 5.8%, while the annual data, initially announced as a 0.1% contraction, was revised to a 0.4% increase.
