Fatih Karahan becomes the new Central Bank Governor

Hafize Gaye Erkan, who resigned as the Governor of the Central Bank, was replaced by Yaşar Fatih Karahan, a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.


Fatih Karahan was appointed as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank by Mehmet Şimşek. A graduate of Boğaziçi University, Karahan worked as a Monetary Policy Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He also worked as chief economist at Amazon.
