Istanbul Medical Chamber says virus cases are on the rise in the city

The Istanbul Chamber of Medicine announced that the patient density in the city has increased significantly due to the increasing number of viruses in recent weeks.

Istanbul Medical Chamber reported that the number of cases has increased due to Covid-19, influenza and other seasonal viruses, and that wards and intensive care units are full in many hospitals in Istanbul.

“Information from our colleagues in the field indicates that intensive care units are full in many hospitals in Istanbul. It is stated that there are no empty stretchers in the red areas of the emergency departments and some patients have been waiting in line for days for the intensive care unit.”

The statement added that the latest situation in hospitals will be shared with the public at a press conference tomorrow (January 5).

The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) also sent a letter to the Ministry of Health in response to a serious outbreak of respiratory diseases and requested that necessary precautions, including the wearing of masks, be taken in all health institutions and units.
