Kordsa invests in biocomposites

Kordsa

Kordsa, a subsidiary of Sabancı Holding, invested in BPREG, a sustainable advanced materials company established in Turkey in 2017, which offers environmentally friendly alternatives to synthetic composites by developing natural fiber reinforced industrial biocomposites.

According to a press release, with this investment, Kordsa will become a partner in the company’s growth story, and will open its domestic and international know-how and technology know-how to BPREG.

While Kordsa production facilities will be able to host BPREG’s mass production processes, BPREG’s product portfolio will be offered to Kordsa’s customers in different geographies around the world.

BPREG’s biocomposite solutions will offer high performance and lightweighting while reducing the carbon footprint of product/part production in different sectors such as automotive, mobility, aviation, sports equipment and consumer products, thus accelerating the transition to sustainable materials.

Commenting on the issue, Kordsa CEO İbrahim Özgür Yıldırım stated that with the BPREG investment, they will add another one to their competencies in composite technologies.

Yıldırım said, “With our investment in BPREG, we will support sustainable living and contribute to the opening of a technology originating from Turkey to global markets. In the near future, products obtained from organic fibers sourced from local producers in Turkey will be offered to the world’s largest companies in our customer portfolio under the synergy of BPREG and Kordsa. Thus, we will open a new page in our mission to act as a bridge between Turkey and the world.”

BPREG also participated in the Sabancı ARF Almost Ready to Fly program, which was launched by Sabancı Holding in 2022 and graduated its first graduates in the past months, and was among the 8 startups that qualified for investment.
