Minister Şimsek “I do not have a statement that installments on credit cards will be removed.”

Şimşek: We reaffirm our commitment to creating rule-based policies

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek denied the news referring to him about credit cards and stated that he did not make a statement that “installments on credit cards will be abolished”. Şimşek said, “Our rule-based and predictable policies will continue in the post-election period.”

While it is stated that credit cards will be regulated to prevent the increase in demand after the local elections, it is also a matter of debate whether installment sales will be abolished.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek denied the claim that installments will be abolished on credit cards in his post on his X account today.

Şimşek wrote the following: “Deliberate news is being circulated to create unease and insecurity in the markets. We have clearly set out the policies we will implement in our Medium Term Program. Our rule-based and predictable policies will continue in the post-election period. In this context, I would like to ask our citizens; please do not rely on any news that you have not heard from us.”
