Turkey’s first ‘unicorn’ (a company reaching a valuation of 1 billion dollars) technology startup company Dream Games developed ‘Royal Match’ game, became the most revenue-generating mobile game in the world.
According to the written statement made by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Turkish game company Dream Games doubled its revenue in 2023, leaving other competitors in the world behind.
Data.ai research company Data.ai, which reports the expenditures made in Apple and Google’s online application stores, revealed that the company with the highest turnover is the ‘Royal Match’ game of Turkish technology initiative Dream Games.
The Financial Times, a British publication, also wrote about the success of the company, “The game company founded by a small team in Istanbul has eclipsed many games such as Candy Crush, owned by Microsoft.”
The British publication commented that the Turkish company is not like other companies trying to make short-term money, and that its small team is constantly striving to make the mobile game better.
Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, shared the article published by the Financial Times on his social media account and said, “Did you know that the Royal Match game of Dream Games, a Turkish technology initiative, has managed to become the highest revenue-generating mobile game in the world in recent months, and that Dream Games, which is one of our first ‘unicorns’, i.e. Turcorns, with a valuation of 2.75 billion dollars in 2021, has doubled its annual revenue to 2 billion dollars this year with a team of 200 people, and managed to outperform competitors such as Candy Crush, which is worth 75 billion? ” he said.
Soner Aydemir, CEO of the company, founded Dream Games in 2019 after selling Peak Games, which he and his team had previously founded, to Zynga, one of the world’s gaming giants.
