Following his defeat against AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the presidential elections on May 28th, it is being discussed that CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will run for re-election during the party congress.

According to an article by Sarp Sağkal from Cumhuriyet newspaper, the decision for the party congress was also scheduled during the Central Executive Committee (MYK) meeting. It is said that Kılıçdaroğlu will run for re-election in the upcoming congress. It has been reported that Kılıçdaroğlu told the new members of the MYK, “We will be more visible and active in the field. There will be no understanding that remains in ivory towers.”

Amendments to the bylaws are envisioned

CHP officials stated, “We will make the bylaws more democratic. We will increase political participation. We will look into what we can do to make women, young people, and disabled individuals more active in politics. Afterward, at our congress in October, a commission will be formed to discuss these efforts. We will not start from scratch, but some changes are envisioned within the existing bylaws.”
