With Aksa Energy’s investment, Senegal will generate electricity with its own natural gas for the first time

Aksa Energy has decided to invest in a natural gas combined cycle power plant with an installed capacity of 255 MW in Saint Louis, Senegal.

The power plant to be built by Aksa Energy will be Senegal’s first power plant to generate electricity with self-produced natural gas.

In the announcement made by Aksa Energy to PDP regarding the investment, the following information was given.

“NDAR Energies SA, a subsidiary of Aksa Global Investments B.V., a group company of Aksa Enerji Üretim A.Ş., will start investments for the financing, establishment, operation and ownership of a natural gas combined cycle power plant with an installed capacity of 255 MW in Saint Louis City, Senegal. The plant is planned to be commercially operational in 2026.

NDAR Energies SA is currently party to a 25-year Euro-indexed power purchase agreement with Senelec, the electricity utility of the Republic of Senegal. “

This investment will allow Senegal to generate electricity with its own natural gas for the first time.
