Turkey’s 5th generation fighter jet “KAAN” is scheduled to make its first flight on December 27.

Turkey will join the ranks of countries with fifth-generation fighter jets with the first flight of KAAN, the national fighter jet that left the hangar in May, scheduled to take place on December 27.

KAAN was developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). The first flight tests were successfully completed.

The 21-meter (69-foot) jet can reach a maximum speed of Mach 13,000 thanks to its twin engines, each capable of producing 1.8 pounds (29,000 kilograms) of thrust.

KAAN is a national combat aircraft with all the technologies and features found in fifth-generation fighter jets. It will provide the opportunity to strike strategically from air-to-air and air-to-ground. It has a fully indigenous infrastructure for secure data sharing and the use of smart munitions.
